Magnolia[2] was the mother of Shamrock and Shanks, and the lover of Figarland Garling.[1] A native of God Valley, she was killed during the prelude of the God Valley Incident by Garling.
Appearance
Magnolia's appearance before the God Valley Incident.
Magnolia was a slim woman whose most striking feature was her long, bright red hair, a trait inherited by both her children. She mainly wore simple dresses of a single color.
Personality
Little of Magnolia's personality is known, but she appeared to be kind and romantic, genuinely loving Garling and never giving up hope in his return to God Valley.[3] After learning of Garling's true colors, Magnolia's devotion to her sons led her to seek out a Marine to save the boys, as she aspired for them to become men who had been raised by a kind person.[4]
History
Biography
40 years ago, Magnolia met Figarland Garling, who had stopped on God Valley following a trip. She fell in love with him[5] and, during his time there, became pregnant. Nine months later, Magnolia gave birth to twins, named Shanks and Shamrock.[1]

A year after the twins' births, Magnolia reunited with Garling on God Valley. Happy to see him, she introduced him to his sons and invited him to live with them. However, Garling refused and stated that God Valley would soon cease to exist. He then struck down Magnolia with his sword, but left her and the twins while preparing for the Native Hunting Competition.[3] The Marine Monkey D. Dragon then found Magnolia, and in her dying breaths she asked that he take the twins to someone kind-hearted so they would be raised into men. Magnolia then collapsed and died immediately afterward.[4]
Legacy
Although Dragon ultimately lost the twins, Magnolia's hope for them was partially realized with Shanks because he was taken in by the Roger Pirates. Shanks grew into a caring man who detested his father's disregard for the outside world. However, Shamrock was seized by the Knights of God and was raised by Garling, becoming like him as a result.
Trivia
- Like many other female characters, Magnolia appears to be named after a flower, the magnolia.
