Ronja is a student at the Walrus School on Elbaph.[1]

Appearance

Ronja is a young giant girl with brown eyes and blonde hair tied in a three-segmented bubble ponytail which curls forwards, resembling the tail of a scorpion. She lacks any upper teeth apart from prominent square-shaped canine teeth. She wears a short fur cape and a patterned dress with light squares formed by dark vertical and horizontal lines.

Personality

Ronja has an upbeat personality and remains optimistic even in the face of danger.[2] Like other Walrus School students, Ronja is against violence and fighting. She is also fond of humans.[1] Ronja is very brave, as despite being terrified for her life when Gunko was about to drop her to her death, she tried to reassure the adults and other children that she would be fine and they should not risk Elbaph's history for her sake.[3]

History

Final Saga

Elbaph Arc

When the Straw Hat Pirates visited the Walrus School, Ronja scolded two other students who were trying to keep them as "prisoners".[1] Later on, Colon arrived and engaged in battle with Luffy, which made Ronja and the other students upset at him for starting a fight.[6]

At some point, Ronja and eight other students were used as hostages for the Knights of God to force the local adult giants to fight for them in an incoming large-scale war. They were put to sleep and were lured away by arrows as part of their plan.[7] They walked along Branch 8 of Forest Sector 2 where a large fire started by Loki was in front of them, but Jinbe extinguished the fire, allowing the kids to remain unharmed.[8] Eventually, the kids woke up from Killingham's sleep ability, but realized they could not move with Gunko's arrow controlling them. They were told by Colon that they were being abducted, and were then ambushed by two MMA creatures. Despite their situation, Ronja was positive that things would turn out well.[2]

To make their threat clear, Sommers had Gunko walk Ronja onto an arrow hanging off the edge of the branch, ready to drop her should the giants not agree to burn down the school and library. In order to instill further pressure on Jarul to make a decision, Gunko then had Ronja speak. Having been put into the spotlight, Ronja began by mentioning her love of both the Walrus School, and Owl Library, as both had played large roles in her life and gave her all of her current friends. She stated her belief that "causing trouble" for others, such as by destroying Elbaph's institutions, was wrong, and that she was fine with dying if it meant they would remain. She burst into tears as she assured Jarul of her luck, and that she would be fine either way. Unable to listen any further, Jarul gave in to the Knights of God's demands, ordering Ange to raze the school and library.[3]

Afterward, Ronja proceeded back to the group, which continued its march. They were eventually knocked unconscious by the arrival of Imu, which knocked her and the other children unconscious.[9] They soon continued their walk, each of them coming to as the arrow forced them forward. Each of the children listened as Jarul made an announcement to all of Elbaph, declaring war against the "demons" that had invaded them, and on the World Government itself.[10] As they approached the coast, Sommers taunted them on their near-failure, and revealing that they would soon be taken to Mary Geoise on a nearby ship, never to return. Fortunately, the guardians of the children arrived to help, although the arrival of a Nika MMA forced them into a short battle. The battle was ended when the New Giant Warrior Pirates dealt a devastating blow to the MMA, knocking it toward Sommers, who accidentally batted it toward the ship, capsizing it.[11]

However, the damage turned out to be more severe than initially thought, as the Sea Clouds were dissipated as well, leaving a massive hole down to Elbaph's Underworld. As Gunko was not currently in control of herself, the arrow remained active, forcing the children to walk toward a deadly fall. Their guardians actions to destroy the arrow proved for naught, and to make matters worse, Sommers refused to remove the thorns, deriving immense pleasure from the potential of seeing what he believed to be meaningless death. Even while all of her fellow children were falling with their parents and guardians, Ronja remained upbeat and sure that they would be saved. A moment later, her father appeared, praised her for her bravery, before embracing her and falling over the edge as well. As Ronja had predicted, the opportune presence of Loki and Luffy below proved to be a saving grace as each of the children and their guardian landed on Loki's back. Due to Loki's insistence on having a clean fight, he demanded they hop off as soon as they reached the Sun World.[5]

Upon arriving in the Western Village, Ronja and her fellow giants did as they were told, although the situation in their new location still was not safe. As it turned out, Sommers followed them, intent on killing the guardians for daring to deprive him of what he believed was a pleasurable moment. Ronja and her fellow children bravely stepped in front of their guardians to defend them, much to Sommers' initial shock, and then delight at the prospect of killing them all. Fortunately, his rain of thorns was put to a stop by Zoro, Luffy, and Loki, who knocked Sommers out of commission. In addition, the thorns around the children fell away, freeing them at last.[12]
