Skaldi's mother loves and cherishes him greatly. She has shown extreme care for his safety, refusing to allow him near his father's sword out of fear he would hurt himself. She was one of the many parents who rushed to save their children from the Knights of God.[5]

History

Final Saga

Elbaph Arc

While the Straw Hat Pirates visited the Walrus School, Skaldi, Bjorn, and a third student played in the water together.[1] Later, Skaldi played on a swing with Luffy, Usopp, and Aegir. However, the two pirates swung higher than the kids wanted, making them afraid and wanting to get off. After Nami made them stop, the two students were comforted by Gerd.[3] After the Straw Hats left, Skaldi attended Ange's class. When tasked to draw his biggest fear, he drew Nika, believing they would destroy the world.[4]

When the Knights of God begin their plan to coerce the adult giants into going to an upcoming large-scale war for them, Skaldi and many other students fell asleep and were lured away by their abilities as part of the plan.[4] Saul tried to stop the sleepwalking children with a shield only for Skaldi to be pushed into Ylva, hurting him on St. Sommers' thorns.[2] Eventually, after Colon was added to their lineup, the children woke up, and realized they were being forced away from the school. When Sommers read out Skaldi's name, he scowled and questioned if there was anything they could do to save themselves.[6] Upon Imu's arrival, Skaldi and the other children were knocked unconscious by a burst of their Supreme King Haki.[7]

They soon continued their walk, each of them coming to as the arrow forced them forward. Each of the children listened as Jarul made an announcement to all of Elbaph, declaring war against the "demons" that had invaded them, and on the World Government itself.[8] As they approached the coast, Sommers taunted them on their near-failure, and revealing that they would soon be taken to Mary Geoise on a nearby ship, never to return. Fortunately, the guardians of the children arrived to help, although the arrival of a Nika MMA forced them into a short battle. The battle was ended when the New Giant Warrior Pirates dealt a devastating blow to the MMA, knocking it toward Sommers, who accidentally batted it toward the ship, capsizing it.[9]

However, the damage turned out to be more severe than initially thought, as the Sea Clouds were dissipated as well, leaving a massive hole down to Elbaph's Underworld. As Gunko was not currently in control of herself, the arrow remained active, forcing the children to walk toward a deadly fall. Their guardians actions to destroy the arrow proved for naught, and to make matters worse, Sommers refused to remove the thorns, deriving immense pleasure from the potential of seeing what he believed to be meaningless death. Recalling an incident where he was scolded for taking his father's sword, Skaldi was suddenly embraced by his mother though the thorns. Rather than allowing him to fall and potentially perish alone, she decided to take the plunge with him. Despite the grim circumstances, the opportune presence of Loki and Luffy below proved to be a saving grace as each of the children and their guardian landed on Loki's back. Due to Loki's insistence on having a clean fight, he demanded they hop off as soon as they reached the Sun World.[5]

Upon arriving in the Western Village, Skaldi and his fellow giants did as they were told, although the situation in their new location still was not safe. As it turned out, Sommers followed them, intent on killing the guardians for daring to deprive him of what he believed was a pleasurable moment. Skaldi and his fellow children bravely stepped in front of their guardians to defend them, much to Sommers' initial shock, and then delight at the prospect of killing them all. Fortunately, his rain of thorns was put to a stop by Zoro, Luffy, and Loki, who knocked Sommers out of commission. In addition, the thorns around the children fell away, freeing them at last.[10]

During the ensuing battle, it was discovered that fatal damage was the key to reverting those who were converted back to normal. This allowed the giants to gradually overwhelm and eventually defeat the remaining demons, ending their threat. Unfortunately, Imu refused to give up on his goals, and subsequently teleported himself to Elbaph. His personal arrival sent out an even more powerful blast of Supreme King Haki, knocking the children unconscious once more.[11]
